- Place all weapons and character counters in the center of the game featuring a Tudor mansion. There are less than six investigators participating in the investigation. - In the game, players will divide black clue cards into three decks of weapons, suspects, and rooms. Carefully shuffle each deck separately from the other decks and place them face down on the board.
Without looking at them and without showing them to any other detectives, take the top card from each of the three decks and put it in the yellow crime envelope. These are actually the perpetrators of the murder, the weapon that was used and the room in which the murder took place. Then put the murder envelope next to the board.
- Rebuild the three decks of black clue cards into a single deck and shuffle it. Distribute all cards one at a time among investigators and always place them face down. Therefore, each player has the same number of cards. Every spy must keep his cards secret.
If the black cards cannot be divided exactly among the detectives participating in the investigation, place the remaining two or three cards next to the Tudor Mansion board.
- Give each investigator a clue sheet from the detective’s notebook and a pen not included in the box. Keep your clue sheet away from prying eyes. Without being seen by the other detectives, each investigator must make a note on his clue sheet of the black clue cards received during distribution. Also, examine any remaining cards placed face up on the board.
Not all of these cards are in the yellow envelope of the offense. Therefore, the people, objects and places depicted in them have nothing to do with the murder. In the continuation of the investigation, you will see the cards of other detectives at once. On each of these occasions, you can note them on your clue sheet. Not being in the envelope of crime it cannot implicate them in murder.
- Finally, shuffle the red prize cards and place this deck next to the board to make an extra trick or profitable action during the check. If you prefer to check according to the original Clue rules, put the red card back in the box.
